The day has come.
Genisis 1-3
We've all heard the story. God makes the night, day, light, earth, water, animals, etc. What struck me is that I've never really paid too much attention to the origin of the man-woman relationship or the Adam-Eve story other than the cursory side of it.
So God makes MAN, both male and female at the same time or should I say that he creates the concept of male/female at the same time in Gen 1:27. More specifically he creates woman out of the rib in Gen 2:7, but truly male/female were all "realized" before he phyically made either. MAN is both genders and all people, not male or female.
The Adam and Eve story is interesting to say the least. I guess Adam just believes whatever Eve says and eats whatever she gives him. Interesting. Seems as though if God TOLD you not to eat it, that he would at least checked what he was eating. Maybe he was more interested in farming or something than paying attention to what he was eating. Is that prophetic or what to many husband/wife relationships of today just substitute farming for tv/sports/internet/whatever??
Gen 3:10 - hiding from God - probably not the best idea.
Gen 3:14 - I never knew that before this curse, serpent were likely vertical creatures as opposed to horizontal.
Take Away:
Man had it all and just idly sat by. The very FIRST temptation cursed MAN for eternity and we are still paying for it. Initial sin is in us all and we are pre-disposed to sin because of it. If only Adam would have stepped forward and said something beforehand, maybe we would all still be sin-free living in that Garden.

In the beginning.....
So.....last night I'm laying in bed staring at the ceiling and contemplating whether or not I should try to make a move on the wifey. After about a milli-second, my wits come to me and I realize nah - that would only end in abject rejection because she is pretty much already asleep - onto to other things. Like anyone else, my mind wanders...my daughters soccer game, the ncaa tourney, my daughters dance class, bowling on tuesday with the foundations guys, church, God, sex, is there anything on tv, i'm hungry, it's cold, the Bible.
The Bible
Now there's a book I've never really read. I mean REALLY read. Sure I've read chapters, verses, heck maybe even I've read a whole book at once, but never in any succession or sustained effort. I'm a Christian and have been since I was 11, but I can't say I've been a good one or even one worthy of any reverance by anyone. At first Christianity was a product of good parents, good mentors and good friends. Then as I got older it became a social activity, then it was backburnered for girls, college, drinking, work and anything else I could give priority. Now that I have a wife and children, I find myself speedwalking, not casually walking, not jogging or running, yes speedwalking back to Christian living. I digress.
Throughout my life, even when I thought I was a good Christian, I can't say that I've ever really delved into the inner linings of the Bible. As mind wandered last night, I challenged myself to a One Year Bible Adventure. I will do my very best to, in the next 365 days, read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations, front to back, top to bottom. I don't have a plan of attack or schedule breakdown. I'm just flying by the seat of my pants.

Along the way, I hope to post my thoughts, general observations, takeaways and struggles. I cannot guarantee that I will be successful but I'm hoping my obligation to writing about it and my desire to learn more will keep me entrenched.
